The article reflects about the evaluation devices used at school and their mediation with the production of the school space. It seeks the remnants of conceptions present in the evaluation when taken as a measurement. The study was developed from the methodological perspective of studies in everyday life. Among the shifts that occurred in the research, a formal and an informal evaluation device are presented. The results show that although the evaluation devices do not act sovereignly in the production of a fragmented and excluding space, there is no way to disregard their role in this purpose. When thinking about a school that is built on democratic and liberating bases, it is necessary to consider the standard used in the practices, methodologies and instruments, in order to recognize in its genesis, the orientations that one wants to imprint on the production of the school space.
