When approaching the development of the game in children, its effect on understanding and respect for rules, on social and moral development, in addition to cognitive development; by discussing the best way to ensure these advances, by opening up to the child's active participation, enabling choices, avoiding excessive driving, providing the solution of interesting problem situations related to the game and their own life, this article intends to do justice to a small part of the great legacy that Kamii has given us – her work on the games of rules. In order to help the search for interesting games for children in kindergarten and the first years of elementary school, the article presents, at the end, a picture of the different kinds of group games, with the main actions they provide and the indication of the books in which they can be found; this table is adapted to include games from other books by the same author and from books from the Mathematics Education Seminars prepared by the EDUMAT study group.
