Curriculum of social communication: a brief study on photography education in graduation and formation of photographer communicator

Abstract

This article is the result of research on the teaching of photojournalism in undergraduate courses in Social Communication, including Journalism, Advertising and Marketing, and Public Relations, still in force on the date the students attended higher education. The research carried out data, through online questionnaire, with students from the faculties and universities Opet, Positivo, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR), Tuiuti, Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL), Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), UniBrasil and UniCuritiba. A brief research in thesis and dissertation database pointed out to the absence of studies focusing on the teaching of photography within the curricular matrix of higher education,indicating an area to be explored, besides evidencing a deficiency of attention by researchers on the subject. A priori, this work was done as a topic cut on the curriculum of the Social Communication and the teaching of photography discipline in the training of the communicator photographer, which was later deepened in a master's dissertation, whose realization required new research with greater theoretical depth and data collection with new focus. The result of this initial research is an essay that points out the evaluation that the alumni from Social Communication degree of the such Universities do about the teaching of photography offered to them during the graduation.
