Thematic Dossier: Digital Culture, Education, and Teacher Education

The contemporary world is marked by technological convergence that is reshaping subjectivities and social practices, requiring the field of education to engage in a critical and in-depth reflection on how to organize and develop the teaching and learning process. In this context, teacher education emerges as a central focus.

From this perspective, the special issue seeks to investigate technology-mediated teaching and learning processes, shedding light on the potential of networked digital education and the horizons of Open Education. It also aims to map the perspectives and limitations of pedagogical practices that break down the physical barriers of the classroom, promoting more collaborative and flexible learning environments. The discussion addresses the need to democratize access to knowledge.

Finally, this publication calls for an urgent debate on the impacts of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education. In the face of a rapidly changing landscape, it is imperative to analyze whether AI and process automation are redefining or not teaching roles and student trajectories. We invite the academic community to submit papers that examine the ethical, social, and pedagogical implications of these advances.
