Abstract

This article deals with a specific process of the activity of study, abstraction. The objective is to analyze the necessity and importance of this process for theoretical thinking and for the development of the subjects involved in the educational process. It is based on the Cultural History theory of Marxian historical materialist and dialectic basis, therefore, it is based on the production of researchers such as L. S. Vygotsky, V. V. Davidov, D. B. Elkonin, among others. The method is characterized by bibliographic research and conceptual theoretical analysis. The results show that the psychological function of abstraction undergoes several processes of transformation depending on the purposes of the actions where it exists. Therefore, it needs to be mastered by individuals as an essential means for the development of higher psychological functions and in the production of theoretical thought. Although, as it is directed, also for the analysis in the reflective processes has implications for the development of personality.
