Abstract

By examining the matrices of African literature, this article aims to assess the elements of recent West African history that led to the emergence of African-language novels French. The period considered here refers mainly to the passage from the historical novel to the works of fiction that acquired a certain autonomy, with the expression of the author's individuality, but that still maintained a close link with the traditional narrative.
