The aim of this text is to present the work Agnotología, Sociologia dela ignorancia, ignorancia de la Sociologia, written by the Spanish journalist and political scientist Agustín Galán Machío. The work responds to a growing interest in agnotology, the recent social theory of ignorance. This area argues that ignorance is more than a simple reflection of human limitations; it has a productive role in the acquisition, maintenance and expansion of political, economic and organizational power. Therefore, it is argued that ignorance is voluntarily and/or involuntarily created and socially sustained. Any analysis of power relations in contemporary times needs to take into account how we understand ignorance, and the work of Galán Machío is an excellent conductor for these reflections.Downloads
