Abstract

This article presents a series of reflections on the relationship between politics and knowledge, addressing, in particular, the problems that research assessment mechanisms pose and their connection with conceptions of politics as a resource allocation activity. It asks to what extent and how these conceptions are reshaping the social world and it proposes a re-reading of the foucauldian formulation of the problem of government as a possible route for analyzing the implications of managerial logics for scientific practices.
