Abstract

To live on the street is to experience a form of domination that reduces the homeless to a situation of political-ontological inferiority that brutally diminishes their life possibilities. Due to this, several of these individuals resist, developing processes of subaltern subjectivation by which they refuse this political-ontological disqualification and try to produce themselves in other manners. One of these techniques of subjectivation is craftsmanship. Craftsmanship allows several homeless to create relative lines of escape from the domination of life on the street, thus alleviating it for a moment. In spite of this, craftsmanship is fundamentally limited as a means of resistance. As such, it is incapable of originating processes of structural transformation that eliminate homelessness.
