Herewith the historical thought of Montesquieu is studied by analyzing his two more important texts, The spirit of the Laws and Considerations on the causes of the greatness of the Romans and their decline by discussing the relations between the political concepts used by the French philosopher and his ideas concerning History. Thus, it is pointed out Montesquieu's intention to create a theory able to explain the changes and the permanencies in the people's and State's history.Downloads
