Abstract

In this paper we will present three philosophical approaches around the figure of the earth. In all cases, the earth is seen as a political agent that destabilizes certain conceptions of the world to project new solutions to the much-mentioned environmental crisis. The first of the proposals corresponds to Aldo Leopold whom we can consider as the founder of a "land ethic". The choice of this author responds to the intention of confronting his positions with those of two representatives of contemporary materialism: Tim Ingold and Donna Haraway. The objective will be to show the need to move from the search for an environmental ethic to a strong ontological inquiry. The latter, although it includes among its objectives the construction of an ethic, proposes as a much more essential objective a resignification of the notion of the human and a reformulation of its limits and scope.
