This study seeks to explain in which way relations between the field of studies on collective action and the field of studies on surveillance can be found, specifically in what refers to the issue of policing social movements. Based on an analysis centrally focused on the review of the literature of the two main international journals in each area (Mobilization and Surveillance & Society) and with the help of NVivo 11, the objective is to investigate to what extent these different fields (do not) produce a theoretical dialogue between them. After making explicit specific gaps in each field, the study concludes that is necessary to construct a wider theoretical dialogue based on concepts that can interconnect these fields, such as “control”, “power” and “asymmetry”.Downloads
