Transnarrating the travel literature on belém in the XIX century

Abstract

The objective of this work is to carry out a partial analysis of the narrative of travel Reminiscências de Viagens e Permanências no Brasil: províncias do Norte (2008), by Daniel P. Kidder, from the perspective of the reception aesthetics dealt with by Hans Robert Jauss in A história da literatura como provocação à teoria literária (1994) and Wolfgang Iser in O ato de leitura: uma teoria do efeito estético (1996). The proposal is to think of how the travel literature reflects the historical condition of Bethlehem in the early nineteenth century, from the perspective of the foreigner, and that from the interpretation (horizon of expectation) of the reader (us) can be delineated as text literary in a perspective of the effect that the narrative brings before the existing paradigm between author / text / reader. Considering the concepts of aesthetics, reception, historicity, reading and effect on the reader. In this way, it is sought to understand the approaches of Jauss and Iser, along with the text in analysis, seeking to value the travel literature as literary poetic text.
