Abstract

The purpose of this article considers the historical marc of the song “Pelo Telefone”, composed by Donga and Mauro de Almeida, as intercross momentum of paradigmatic change in samba genre. In other words, that piece take traditional productions from the communities of Bahia migrants fixed in Rio de Janeiro to create a song proper to the commercial entertainment standards that rules as manner of cultural and musical transmission in a city under ascendant modernity. For once, we will investigate the roots of this genre as result of a tradition reinvented under the context of a nation constituted by factors like multicultural synthesis, the slavery trauma and the space opened by lower social groups. Understanding the samba as part of a tradition originated by that factors, who also characterize that genre as a perform of resistance, a lecture of “Pelo Telefone” should understand how the samba tradition clash with the modernity situation.
