Oral text editing: why publish? how to edit?

Abstract

Field research in orality provides the researcher with a rich contact with narrative communities and continues to be a practice of oral poetic scholars, despite a considerable number of publications in recent years. In the case of academic research, this movement goes beyond data collection, including transcription, adaptation and publication of texts, in print or digital media. It discusses what has been done in terms of registration of oral poetry in Brazil and the dissemination of its results, through publications, from the questions: why publish? how to edit? In the search for these answers, the article describes the experiences with the books Histórias do Fundo do Baú, Contos e Causos da Bahia e Coleção Bocapiu, besides presenting proposals, based on the work of Doralice Alcoforado and Maria del Rosário Albán (1992, 1996). With this, it is tried to advance in the theoretical discussion on the theme of how to fix in the letter the diversity of the voice.
