<b>Occurrence of Cryptosporidium spp'm dogs with diarrhoea seen at the Veterinary Hospital of UEL, PR</b>

Were obtained 133 fecal samples from animals with diarrhoea. The feces were stained modified by Ziehl-Nelseen Technique and examined by optical microscopy. Of 133 samples, 81,20% were obtained from younger dogs with less of one year of age whereas 18,80% were from older dogs than one year of age. The majorim of dogs 54,89% were mongrel dogs. Only 3 of the 133 samples were positive for Cryptosporidium spp (2,25%). The infected dogs ranged in age from a 3 to 3, 8 months. Despite its low prevalence is an important font of infection to animals, children and immunodeficients people due to the close contact with their pets.
