This article deals with the notion of public space built in the modern state from the development of capitalist sociability. It stresses the heteronomous character of the practices that develop in this space, determined by the logic of the market, as a distortion of the democratic character that they presuppose, and, in passing, points to the mistake of the socialist alternative that resulted in the totalitarian state. Finally, the article seeks to show signs of transformation in the public sphere as a result of the bankruptcy of the Welfare State, a phenomenon that points to the possibilities of redefining public space as a democratic space.Downloads
