Brazilian modernist intellectuals were concerned with the redefinition of Brazilian culture, taking Brazilian popular culture and folklore as a starting point. In Macunaíma, Mário de Andrade takes advantage of the most varied elements of popular culture, giving them an erudite configuration. Among these elements we highlight the use of embolada, which, as a way of singing, has a strong poetic structure, which can be used in fiction prose, preserving its rhythm and form.Downloads
