Fábio Wanderley Reis is professor emeritus at the Faculty of Philosophy and Human Sciences at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Doctor in Political Science from Harvard University, he is the organizer of important works such as Democracy in Brazil: Dilemmas and Perspectives, with Guillermo O'Donnell. For his Politics and Rationality, he was awarded the Anpocs Prize, as the best scientific work in the Human Sciences. His most recent books are Mercado e Utopia (Edusp, 2000) and Tempo Presente (Editora UFMG, 2002). , reveals the scope of the intellectual activity of a thinker endowed with a vast political culture and a refined degree of analytical sophistication. Retired a few years ago, after teaching for more than three decades, he has actively participated in public debate. The main vehicles of our great press have highlighted the critical rigor of his ideas.
