Apresentação do Dossiê: Continuidades Esquecidas e Rupturas Construídas entre Ditaduras e Democracias

Resumo

Independentemente do modo como se processaram, as mudanças de regime político são, por norma, analisadas sob a lente da ruptura, sendo dada uma atenção insuficiente aos elementos de continuidade presentes nos mais variados níveis. Neste texto de apresentação são abordadas algumas das questões teóricas subjacentes aos estudos apresentados no dossiê temático. São destacadas as problemáticas ligadas à divisão do tempo histórico e os impactos das escolhas relativas à definição das balizas cronológicas dos trabalhos de investigação; as questões que envolvem as noções de continuidade e mudança; e a centralidade destes temas nos estudos sobre transições políticas. Argumenta-se que o modo como o passado é interpretado é devedor da forma como estas problemáticas são ou não incorporadas e problematizadas pelos pesquisadores. No final, conclui-se que uma análise transversal entre regimes políticos permite esbater rupturas fictícias e identificar continuidades escondidas, transformando a nossa compreensão sobre o passado e sobre o seu impacto no presente.
