The article Richard Rorty's solidarist metaphilosophy and docudramatic narrative presents as its main theme the effective role of the redescriptive power of docudrama as a demand for self-creation present in Richard Rorty's solidarist metaphilosophy. The connection between Rorty's philosophy, supported by new vocabularies that indicate redescriptions and ethical solidarity, with the filmic strategy of docudrama will be approached from the following points: Richard Rorty's metaphilosophy: rupture with traditional and canonical philosophy; characteristics and potentialities of the docudramatic narrative: articulation between Rorty's philosophical redescription and the docudrama; docudrama and Richard Rorty's legacy for a solidarist philosophy. The first section intends to present Rorty's philosophy as a metaphilosophy and prepare a brief characterization of the thematic and methodological aspects present in the course of the project of philosophical redescription in conjunction with solidarism and liberal ironism. The second section will show characteristics and potentialities of the docudramatic narrative in the articulation of this narrative form with Rorty's thought of philosophical redescription. And finally, in the third section, the articulating the docudramatic narrative with the project of philosophical redescription and philosophy as a “liberal utopia” of Rorty's solidarist philosophy will be discussed. The article has as theoretical reference Rorty's main works, especially his seminal work Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature (1979) and the work of the solidarist turn that is Contingency, Irony and Solidarity (1989), in addition to specific writings in the area of scholars on docudrama.
