The many forms of acculturation in the andes region

Abstract

During the period of the conquest, acculturation occurred slowly and continuously in the Inca society. This process took place in a different way, as well as the process of conquest in the different regions colonized by Spain. Tradition usually conceiving acculturation as an action of substituting one culture for another, in a contestable theory, which insists on believing in the disappearance, due to colonization, or our current globalization, of the customs of a people. By conceiving culture as something static and frozen, this conception is associated with the idea of extinction, mischaracterization, social and cultural disruption, loss of identity; sees the influences of a social group about another as a process of deconstruction of identity and cultural deformation. However, in this analysis we believe that it is not a substitution, but an intercultural fusion, which gives rise to a new cultural trend in which, in some circumstances, one culture stands out from the other, that is, the culture does not die, it reframes.
