Recent international arrangements have reconfigured the relationship between the crossing of borders and the permanence of immigrants in host societies. In addition, new issues such as transnationalism, multiculturalism, ethnic identities and the strategies of immigrants in destination societies put traditional integration processes to the test. With l'evidence, migration has become a political act. Today, variables such as gender and bodily practices, in addition to the action of supranational bodies, are at odds with the austere and restrictive migration policies that are reappearing in different countries around the world. As a result, each research that is carried out also seems to bring a denunciation (social and political) of a strange world, just when the displacement is simpler and the contacts are more frequent. The dossier “Contemporary international migrations”, published in this number 1 of volume 22 of Mediations, sought to portray part of these numerous researches, conceptual and empirical, currently registered.Downloads
