Abstract

During the 1930s, authoritarian projects of a strong and centralized State were abundant in Brazil. However, the fact that those projects defended the suspension of democratic rule did not render them homogeneous. Thus, this article aims to show the formation of the Integral State outlined by Miguel Reale, National Secretary of Doctrine for the Brazilian Integralist Action (Ação Integralista Brasileira). His project, coated in corporatism, sought to root itself in tradition and religiosity to combat both communism and liberalism.
