Abstract

In this paper I have focused on La mesure du monde written by Paul Zumthor in 1993, mainly in his study of cartography and representation. How myths have been depicted by travelers since Xth century? How travelers’ depictions have influenced the Amazon imaginary? What is the relationship between oral narratives in Amazon and the myths built by travelers in their texts? These are some questions that I deal with.
