Resumen

La policía de demostración es una actividad crucial que revela mucho sobre la calidad de la democracia en una sociedad determinada. Además de presentar los artículos que componen el dossier, este artículo contribuye a la experiencia acumulada de Irlanda del Norte en el tratamiento de manifestaciones. Brasil e Irlanda del Norte son sociedades divididas en las que la policía es corresponsable de los conflictos y enfrenta serios problemas de legitimidad, al menos para los grupos vulnerables. Las lecciones de Irlanda del Norte apuntan al hecho de que el entendimiento mutuo entre la policía y los manifestantes es vital para limitar la posibilidad de que los incidentes y eventos de orden público se vuelvan incontrolables.
