Policy for the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)

Mediações observes the ethical and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence applications and systems, in accordance with the updated guidelines of the Guide to the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools and Resources in Research Communication on SciELO, and as described in Guidelines for the Ethical and Responsible Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence: A Practical Guide for Researchers. It also follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning authorship and the use of GenAI tools. These guidelines establish that authors must be individuals who have made a significant contribution to intellectual work, including study design, data collection and analysis, interpretation of results, and manuscript writing.

The use of generative artificial intelligence tools must be properly disclosed in the manuscript, preferably in a footnote at the beginning of the text, or alternatively in a dedicated section, detailing the name of each tool used, its role in the study, and how it was employed, a ccording to the example below:
