This article analyzes data from the Paraná Agricultural Censuses from 1970 to 1995. Based on these, the development of agriculture in Paraná is characterized, and it is concluded that the process of agricultural technification leads to the unsustainability of rural and urban spaces in general. As for the rural space, it is possible to see a marked process of social differentiation, which generates the proletarianization of small producers and the expulsion of an important fraction of the rural population. In addition, it generates an important process of degradation of natural resources. In the urban environment, the agricultural technification process has important indirect environmental impacts, represented by an intense concentration of unemployed or underemployed population, resulting in a situation of growing socio-environmental unsustainability.Downloads
