Abstract

We highlight the opening of this Mediations session with the translation of Ulrich Beck's article How not be become a museum piece, in which the author discusses the need for a New Critical Theory to account for an increasingly cosmopolitan modernity. In the articles section, there is also a plurality of approaches and themes. Amurabi Pereira Oliveira analyzes the biographical paths among followers of a mystical-esoteric movement, observing their relationship with the symbolic effectiveness of ritual processes. Finally, we would like to inform you that, as part of the magazine's restructuring process, started in 2007, with a view to adapting Mediations, more and more, to the - sometimes onerous - requirements of relevant indexers at national and international level, it was necessary to review the composition of our Scientific Advisory Board.
