This number of Mediações- Revista de Ciências Sociais presents the dossier “Interpretações do Brasil contemporary ”, organized by Jorge Chaloub (UFJF) and Pedro Luiz Lima (UFRJ). In the midst of a turbulent electoral process for presidential succession in the country, in which the democratic institutionality of society is beeing tested by authoritarian speeches openly nostalgic about the military dictatorship of 1964-1985, the dossier goes public to discuss some of the determining issues of social and political life in contemporary Brazil.
