Abstract

This number of mediations is, in many ways, special. In 2010, we approved the proposal by our Department colleague João Valentin Wawzyniak to organize a dossier on the Amazon. In the initial formulation, it was sought to gather works from different areas of knowledge that took on the theoretical and methodological challenge of understanding and explaining the Amazon, focusing on the tense and / or subtle relationship between society and nature in this region. However, the project was postponed due to the illness of our colleague and friend, which was followed by his premature death. Finally, with the publication of this tribute, Mediações ends the existence of its printed version, starting to be edited only in its electronic version. With this measure, we seek to optimize resources in order to improve the possibilities of growth of the journal, either through translations of texts by renowned foreign authors, or by increasing the volume of dossiers and other measures aimed at expansion of the mediations capacity to bring high-quality and high-quality knowledge to the dissemination of scientific works to its readers.
