Mentality crystals: dictated as identity signs in the romance of the Kingdom Stone

Ariano Suassuna, author of Auto da Compadecida and O Santo ea Porca, had as leitmotiv the valorization of the people's material and immaterial production, by evoking what is universal, eternal and poetic in the northeastern novelist. Treated as a dramatic element in the Romance of Pedra do Reino, the author uses simple forms as identity elements of the backcountry people, weaving an image Mentality. This article discusses the use of sayings and proverbs as crystals of mentality immanent in customs and history, beliefs and traditions, filtered through affective, moralizing and that become identity exhibitors.
