Supernatural literature written by women has become increasingly prevalent in contemporary times. Augusta Faro, known for her supernatural short stories, includes one such tale, “As Flores” (“The Flowers”), in her book A Friagem (The Chill) (1999), which is the focus of this study. Following an initial theoretical section on fantastic literature, drawing primarily on Todorov (2004) and Roas (2014), this paper explores concepts related to the neofantastic genre and the representation of space in such literature, as proposed by Furtado (1980). Building on this theoretical foundation, the paper then examines the literary space in “As Flores,” demonstrating its significance within the structure of the fantastic short story.
