Interactions among ions in solids originate electronic transition processes that couldn’t be explained considering each ion as being isolated from the others. Phenomena of this kind, that affect the emission spectrum of the material, such as energy transfer processes, cooperative absorption and cooperative luminescence, are discussed in this work.
