Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the epidemiological and serological aspects of toxoplasmosis in 334 beef cattle slaughtered in Londrina (North of Paraná), from various regions in the State of Paraná and the South of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. The serum samples were submitted to the indirect fluoresccence antibody test, resulting in 32,34% of serum-positives. The rate of serum-reagents in each region was, Norte of Parana 50,77%, New Northen Paraná 32,50%, West of Paraná 1 7,38%, Central Region of Paraná 15,38%, South of Mato Grosso do Sul, 30,77% (titre greater or equal to 1.64). According to these results, it must be necessary to know the main source of infection and ways of Toxoplasma gondii transmission in beef cattle.
