Abstract

In the present work we analyze the incorporation and the transcription of the Greek lexicon during the August period. From the theoretical planting that has been carried out by various authors (Comba, Faria, Mendes de Almeida, Rubio), we have found that it is a subject of difficult systematization, due to the great diversity of possible variants. We have chosen for its analysis a corpus of five and three Greek terms that appear in the six first days of the Book of the Latin poet Horacio and we study the resources of the author to adapt them to Latin, indicating the linguistic peculiarities suffered in the transit of a language to another . We distinguished in our other conclusions between the concepts of "incorporation" and "transcription" of a Greek term in Latin, arguing their differences; we also attend to the difficulties arising from the graphic transcription of different sounds between the languages.
