Marginal Dialogues: Paulo Leminski’s poetry and the ghost presence of 1922 modernism

Abstract

Based on the paradigmatic presence of 1922 modernism, both in the marginal poetry project of the 1970s and in the disruptive project of marginal literature in the 2000s, this article aims to discuss how Paulo Leminski’s poetry anticipates the aesthetic solutions of poetry and of marginal literature, such as literary colloquialism, as it staged within it the split of the erudite white cultured literary system. To this end, it is organized in such a way that, at first, we will discuss marginal poetry and marginal literature, so that, from this, we can conceptualize and understand the relationships between the production of the poet from Curitiba and the avantgarde projects discussed, establishing, also, the modernist influences of 1922 in his writing. Thus we will be able to analyze the intimate, striking and intertextual poems of the posthumous work La vie en close, published in 1991, two years after his death, organized by his wife, Alice Ruiz.
