Lima Barreto and Ferréz: resistance rough literature

Abstract

This work's main objective is to establish a comparative analysis between the writers Lima Barreto and Ferréz, from the works Recordações do escrivão Isaías Caminha (2016) and Capão Pecado (2020) of both respectively. The first was published in 1909 and features a first-person narrative of a poor mulatto young man from the interior who yearns to become a lawyer. And, he soon discovers that life in the city is much more difficult than he thought. The second was published in 2000 and presents the narrative in first and third person through several voices, set in the favela of Capão Redondo. The literary canon excludes writers, as they write for and about the lower class, the invisible individuals, the majority of
whom are marginalized by society. The methodology used is of a bibliographical nature: a basic nature and with the objective of exploratory-descriptive research, the theoretical approach will address the canon and marginal literature.
