Presents an analytic exercise in reading the contemporary Brazilian novel Do fundo do poço se vê a lua (2010) by the writer Joca Reiners Terron, from the problem set up by the installation of an ambience camp by the narrator-protagonist, a transgender who dreams to be the Cleopatra by Elizabeth Taylor. The guiding hypothesis lies in the conception that, through the use of camp aesthetics, Terron reaffirms some theses about the work of the writer in the contemporary setting, the future of literature and the relationship with the reader instance. From a theoretical point of view, multidisciplinary references were used, both from literary criticism and anthropology, sociology and communication. Methodologically, the option was textual criticism (Bergez, 2006). As a result, we conclude that the novel was constructed by the camp category in association with other aesthetics, such as kitsch, parody, pastiche, fake, always in the light of the artifice, in order to fulfill Terron’s goal, which is to question the place of the writer and literature in the relationship between aesthetics, narrative and contemporary subjectivities.Downloads
