A single dose do DDT (DichlorodiphenyltrichloroethaneJ (50 and 100 mg/kg i.p.) enhanced the hepatic metabolizing activity in rats. The N-demethylation ofaminopyrine showed a 3-4 fold increase when compared with control On the other hand, there was only a 2-fold increase on hydroxyltion of aniline and on the levels of cytochrome PA s 0. The pentobarbital sleeping time decreased 80% in both doses of insecticide. These results revealed a maximal induction in the dose of 50 mg/kg of insecticide. In adition, it was demonstrated that the DDT evokes a diferential effect on the aminopyrine N-demethylase and aniline p-hydroxylase activity.
