Call of Papers - Dossier: Global Africa and African Diasporas: new perspectives for working with belonging, identities and cultural practices. (Mediações, vol. 30, n.3 – 2025/3)

2024-05-24

Organizers: Karina Almeida de Sousa (UFM) and Hasani Elioterio dos Santos (UFSCar).

The dossier intends to bring together a set of texts in which the main topic of discussion is the emergence of the African diaspora as an analytical category in the humanities, emphasizing its developments in the different disciplines of social sciences (sociology, anthropology, and political science). It will prioritize texts that reinterpret and reposit the experience of the dispersion of Africans globally, with the main implication being the formation of African Diaspora Studies. It will prioritize works with consolidated methodological approaches, however, we also consider those with a multi-method approach. Therefore, the intention is to welcome publications that dialogue with the African presence in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean, which, when crossing national and disciplinary borders, also observe the articulations that influenced a set of cultural, political and historical events in black communities, particularly those found along the Atlantic.

The call for papers for the dossier will be open until July 15, 2025, and original texts in Portuguese, Spanish, and English will be accepted. Contributions should be submitted through the journal's online system:
