Abstract

In this edition of the magazine, we focus on the song in its various facets. In a simplified way, the song can be conceptualized as a semiotic artifact built by the articulation between a verbal text and a rhythmic-melodic path, whose realization is effected by the voice. Being one of the main modalities of poetic communication in both traditional cultures and contemporary orality, it is a relevant object for the study of oral poetics. Due to its semiotically multifaceted structure, the enormous variety of its strands and formats, as well as the breadth of its presence in media culture since the beginning of the 20th century, the song has become a prestigious research topic in the areas of letters, musicology, anthropology, sociology, history, communication and others. Such diversity of approaches can be seen in the thematic section of this issue of Revista Boitatá.
