Abstract

Thematic dossier number 21 of Revista Boitatá, entitled Canonical and peripheral nuclei in dialogue with the new media, had the following questions as its motto: what defines a voice as traditional? What elements characterize a narrative as peripheral? What are the rules, present in the digital environment, that determine whether a story is canonically accepted or not? From this, it was sought to list several contributions that reveal the diversity of productions and knowledge that bring in dialogue reflections about tradition, periphery, canon and the new media. In this sense, it becomes imperative to understand how borders that were once so supposedly rigid come to amalgamate in view of the urgent need to recognize that the constitution of a canon is beyond what is intended to be traditional. The narratives that make up the broad fabric of texts that circulate and transform in an attempt to remain current and connected, show strategies that emerge as defense mechanisms, but also as modes of production that are updated and recognized as part of a great work that is built with different means of production, circulation and reception.
