Literature and invention on the newspaper footer: the media writing of 19th century serial theatre

Over the 19th century the periodic press passed through an important technical and editorial evolution which revolutionized form and content of the principal media support of the epoch: the newspaper. The theatre serial results from this renovations. Since the 1830s news writers, like Jules Janin, innovated the forms and the writing of the theatre critic footer in French daily papers. As a locus open to discursives and narratives innovations, literature, fiction and metadiscourse are mixed with the journalistic writing and guide the serial poetic creating a media writing in the newspaper footer.Downloads
