Alexander Search, early and short-lived heteronym in the heteronym universe by Pessoa, has written poems and the short story “A Very Original Dinner” – dated 1907 – in English, under the influence of the period in which the writer, still young, lived in South Africa. It was resulted from his admiration for nineteenth- century Anglophone literature and for Edgar Allan Poe’s works. The short story has elements of mystery, horror and fantastic, and can be read in the (without) limits of the aspects of nineteenths fantastic literature, especially in the more contemporary points of view of criticism, subsequent to Todorov (The Fantastic: A Structural Approach to a Literary Genre).Downloads
