The reduced importance of History and the need of visiting it critically have produced novels in which the line between fictional and historical narrative are mixed, resulting in texts in which there is no single truth, but truths “in plural”. It is the case of “The Night of Crystals”, a novel by Luis Carlos Santana, whose pseudonym, Luis Fulano de Tal, indicates the critical content of his writing. By engaging in this with the present, the author seeks in the past, specifically in the Malês Revolt (a slave revolt that took place in Bahia in 1835) the theme of a narrative that shows the trajectory of black men fighting for voice and place.Downloads
