Abstract

This paper studies the presence of afro-brazilian literature in graduate programs in literary studies. Starting on the observation of ten different graduate programs with a tradition on the research of afro-brazilian literature, it was possible to verify that the number of theses and dissertations about this object is still low in face of the number of teachers needed by the job market. Besides, the data demonstrate a research practice that barely contributes for enhancement of the national literary historiography.
