From the poetic text of literatura de cordel (literature on a string), this article discusses Manoel Congo’s trajectory of fight and resistance, in the quilombo of Manoel Congo. We try to reflect on the representations of such fact very important in the history of the quilombos in Brazil in the text literatura de cordel and in which ways these representations can help understanding the questions related to the way the black people conducted their fight individually and as a group to conquer their freedom and their social rights.Downloads
