The aim of this article is to demonstrate the importance of Sílvio Romero as a precursor of ideas and debates that passes through all critical literature on the 20th Century. Many of the subjects studied by Romero launched the Brazilian intellectual discussion and gave his author a modern character as founder of the social, political and intellectual critical thinking of the Brazilian society. It seeks to show as Sílvio Romero use the critical literature as an instrument of nationality construction.References
