Woman, a constant presence in Brazilian chronicle written in the second half of the 20th century, is almost always seen by male view, since female writers as Rachel de Queiroz and Clarice Lispector are detached in the genre but less outstanding than male writers. The aim of this essay is to appreciate women portraits drawn in chronicles written by Rubem Braga, Antônio Maria and Luis Fernando Verissimo. This depiction of woman is examined in order to check how the perspective oscillates from maintenance of male domination to recognition of women’s rights and singularities, analyzing the lyrical overflow, which keeps close to control and to a liberation discourse.References
